Instagram Pros and Instagram Woes

IMG_1440This is something I’ve been meaning to write for quite some time. With all the changes Instagram has been implementing recently, I wanted to provide some constructive criticism, but also point out the positive aspects as well, so we don’t get bogged down by the negatives. I’ll also be posting an abridged version to Instagram’s App review section, in the hope that they might take some of this feedback into consideration (fingers crossed 🤞). Alrighty! Let’s dive right in! I’ll start with the woes and finish up with the pros so we can end on a relatively high note 💕  Continue reading

Summer on East End: Triple Moon (Spoiler-Free)

IMG_1421Have you seen Witches of East End? Ian and I watched it on Netflix last year and loved it. It’s based off of a 2011 novel by Melissa de la Cruz. I haven’t read it, but when I saw Summer on East End: Triple Moon at BookCon, I had to give it a try. It takes place in the same East End universe as the tv series…kinda. …It’s hard to explain. Anyway, that’s neither here nor there. Read on for my spoiler-free thoughts on Triple MoonContinue reading

The Rains (Spoiler-Free)

IMG_1325

I first heard about The Rains by Gregg Hurwitz earlier this month at BookCon while attending the YA/Adult Crossover Panel, for which Hurwitz was one of the speakers. Sci-Fi and Zombies aren’t really my go-to book topics, but that’s not to say I don’t enjoy them every once in a while; which is why, after hearing Hurwitz talk about his book, I decided to give it a go. And wow – what a ride!

The Rains put an interesting spin on the traditional and stereotypical zombie theme and I very quickly realized that it was way more sci-fi than I had anticipated – which was A-Okay! (Yes, yes, the synopsis makes it glaringly evident that sci-fi is a big component of the story, BUT – and this may come as a shocker, so brace yourselves – I don’t actually always read the synopses of books before I read the books themselves. “*gasp!* whaaaat?!” That’s right, you heard read correctly. Sometimes, if I’ve heard a bit about a particular book and have liked what I heard and have therefore already made up my mind to read it, then I’ll just jump right in – synopsis be damned. And I’ll tell you why! ….Later. In a separate blog post.) Okay! Enough talk. Read on for my spoiler-free thoughts of The Rains, Book 1!  Continue reading

Lord of Shadows (Spoiler-Free)

IMG_1309I finished Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare (Book 2 in the Dark Artifices series) earlier today and it left me feeling exhausted. Emotionally exhausted, that is. Or maybe numb? Don’t worry – the emotions caught up to me soon enough. …Does that sound ominous? Because it was meant to. The question is: is it the good sort of ominous or the bad sort? Spoiler alert, it’s the good sort! Okay, that was the only LoS spoiler here. Read on for my spoiler-free review! (Note: while this is spoiler-free for LoS, there may be spoilers from Book 1, Lady Midnight, specifically in the Overview Section).  Continue reading
