Review Policy

I am accepting Young Adult, New Adult, and Adult books and ARCs for review in printed and ebook formats. Accepted genres are listed below 🙂

Review Info

I will write an honest review based on my personal opinion of the reading material(s) and, therefore, cannot guarantee that my review will be positive.

I fully acknowledge the time, effort, energy, and soul that authors, editors, and publishing teams pour into their work and I know it takes a lot of courage to put pieces of yourself out there for the world to see. For that reason, I strive to be fair and respectful in my responses. With that being said, I am a sarcastic and cynical person by nature – so expect to see some occasional sarcasm and cynicism. Always in good taste!

If I did not enjoy a book (or parts of it), I always take care to explain why I did not like it. But fear not! And this next bit is as much for potential blog readers as authors and is super obvious, but I’m gonna say it anyway – the world is full of diverse readers with varying perspectives! Just because I dislike something, doesn’t mean it’s bad.

Scoring

5 out of 5 stars: I LOVED this book! There was absolutely nothing major I disliked about it – and trust me, I looked real hard. I would, without a moments hesitation, recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who will hear me. If they won’t hear me, I’d recommend it anyway.

4 out of 5 stars: I thoroughly enjoyed this book! There were maybe one or two potential cons that kept me from being completely head-over-heels in love with it, but no biggie! I’d definitely recommend giving it a go!

3 out of 5 stars: This was a solid average read. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it. The pros and cons generally balanced themselves out in the end. I’d say give it a chance if you want and see how you like it.

2 out of 5 stars: This book didn’t do it for me. Sorry…There were definitely things I liked, but overall, the cons outweighed and overshadowed the enjoyable parts of the book.

1 out of 5 stars: There was absolutely nothing I liked about this book 😦 And I tried real hard to find something. Note: I have yet to come across a book that would rate a 1 out of 5 (in my entire life). But there is a first time for everything and it’s really okay if I happen to give your book 1 star. Again, just because I didn’t like it, doesn’t mean it was bad. It just means that I didn’t like it. And I’m just one person out of 7.4 billion.

If you would like me to review your book(s), please send me your request via email at booksbeforebedtime@gmail.com.

Note: If you would like me to review a book, or books, in a series, I may request that you send me the previous books. Depending on my workload and life’s unexpected surprises, I may have to respectfully decline your reviewer request.
